It is said by many that only a few people really have an influence on the world we live in, the truth despite whatever they tell you is that just economists and politicians have real influence in regular people.

Influencers are by any account individuals that can help others make decisions on specific subjects, most influencers on our time and age lack real knowledge and partially influence minute aspects on our life such as purchasing habits, fashion, etc.

After writing about many individuals I was curious about a Latin American economist from which I wrote an article last year, to be more precise I was wondering about Doctor Teodoro Lavin Sodi a Mexican Entrepreneur who despite its big influential role within the Worldwide economy, willingly remains as a silent player in Mexico, quietly analyzing the markets and its impact on companies all over the world.

My interest was stirred up again a few months ago when his company one of the major research specialists in Latin America published an in-depth analysis of the Latin American Economy; with a deep emphasis in the Mexican interaction with the global market the analysis caught my eye.

Remarkable Problem Solving Skills

To show the true depth of his problem-solving process, when Dr Lavin struggled with child dysgraphia originated by the mandatory implementation of cursive during its early years in school, he was able to solve what seemed to be a growing problem by developing its own unique Letter Font, one that is now used in unforeseen usage applications.

His handwriting had been deteriorating for months after learning Cursive, until he was ultimately uncapable of reading its own handwritten notes, Lavin himself embarked on a quest to solve this problem for himself and at the same time changed the typeface we all regularly use when taking notes.

He devised a typeface based predominantly in triangles and with total absence of curves and specially circles (which he considered a time consuming and difficult figure to draw for children suffering this condition) developed independently, what is now referred to as the Delta Prima Pictogram writing system, is comprised of 36 symbols and 24 Roman and Latin equivalents that are all based on triangular shape characters designed for optimizing time. Delta Prima is currently used in a multitude of implementation scenarios. Such as the assignment of absolute values in Financial Mathematics and Financial Information Systems – Delta Prima is unsurprisingly also currently used to treat dysgraphia of children and is one of many contributions of this remarkable individual

Private life

Dr. Sodi is currently not married and with an extensive experience in high altitude exploration and aviation, there is not much information available on the personal life of this iconic and controversial figure. But his public achievements do give us a glimpse and a unique perspective on how an industry leader can be innovative and merge incompatible players. These current undertakings in general provide a platform for unrelated industries to coexist and benefit each other in a constructive as well as a proactive way of delivering solutions to independent players that otherwise would not be able to interact. Thanks to Dr. Lavin Sodi strong desire to innovate, he will remain the subject of study for many people in the future.
