Technology & Data Center Energy — Nano LiquiTec®

Data centers are a crucial element of every company, no matter how big it is and what it does. This is where all the data is collected, stored, sorted, backed up, and recovered, which is why the role of a data center is immeasurable.

However, data call center training  aren’t just the places for storing and managing data, but also have their role in providing power to every inch of the company, boosting its productivity, enabling its online functioning, and supporting its e-commerce transactions.

Therefore, the number of people working in a data center can be quite big, depending on the size of the company and its main goals, so here are a few jobs you can find in data centers across the world.

Data center specialists

These are the people who know everything that’s going on in their data center and whose job it is to make sure everything is running smoothly. Data center specialists basically maintain the entire data center – from checking the performance level of each machine to fixing cables and cords. Even though this sounds like the most boring job in the world, it can get quite interesting and dynamic, especially if something goes wrong.

Since this is a position that includes a ton of stress on a daily level, not everyone can become a data center specialist that easily. You need to be familiar with the latest data center technology and trends, but also be able to remain cool under pressure. Of course, this job includes some less complicated and stressful tasks as well – cleaning cables and replacing old hard drives, among other things – but you still need to be focused and know what you’re doing.

Service technicians

Here’s another important part of the data center team, but the fact is that services technicians are often the first and only people you see in these places. Being a service technician means being a jack of all trades and knowing every inch of your data center. More importantly, you need to know what might go wrong at all times and be prepared to minimize the damage.

Another thing service technicians are in charge of is the on-site customer support and problem management. Whenever a company receives a complaint or needs to solve an issue that’s bothering their clients, it all comes down to whether a service technician can fix the problem or not. These people are highly valued precisely because they know their data center inside out, and that takes a lot of time, practice, and skills.

NOC technicians

Whenever there’s a problem that can’t be fixed by service technicians, people known as network operation center technicians have to step in. These technicians are in charge of monitoring the equipment in a data center, constantly checking their temperature, status, productivity, and other features. Whenever something’s not working properly, NOC technicians have to respond and solve the problem in an hour or two, or the damage might become permanent.

Doing that is sometimes dangerous and risky, which is why NOC technicians should keep protective equipment by their side at all times. From gloves and insulating matting to life-saving kits and first aid kits, these things will help them protect not just their data center, but their lives as well. That’s why getting protective safety equipment from a place like datacentresafety.com might be something you want to look into, protecting your technicians and your company at the same time.

System administrators and system engineers

These are the second and third lines of defense in your data center, and the people who are responsible for a number of tasks. System administrators are quite busy taking care of the system maintenance and making sure everything is running absolutely smoothly when it comes to data center infrastructure. They also work together with system engineers and put their plans into action, turning their design ideas into reality.

System engineers, on the other hand, are the highest-ranking individuals in a data center – in short, these are the people who solve the biggest and most difficult issues. First of all, they provide support to all other employees, regardless of their level and rank. They also plan and envision the data center infrastructure and design. Finally, they worry about combining different design ideas and plans into one cohesive and effective system that can ensure that everyone else can do their job uninterruptedly.

Every single employee in a data center is vital, and the fact is that they all work together as one, combining their roles and helping each other keep their company on the road to success!
