Remote Tools: Why and Where?

Remote access or remote access is the establishment of a connection to computer systems, applications or data from a location other than the head office or a location close to the data center. Remote access means that a user gains access to a network or computer at a different location via the Internet (or via another form of telecommunication).

Some advantages of secure remote access:

  • Higher productivity and more flexibility
  • Better end-to-end security
  • Lower costs with BYOD
  • Improving continuity

Finding talent more easily

Remote access is an excellent solution for teleworkers, external partners, homeworkers or people who need to stay at home in an emergency situation (in bad weather, for example). Organizations are wise to establish a remote access strategy for their users. For example, they can make it possible that employees are always allowed to work from home, or, for example, only if they cannot go to work during bad weather or other calamities.

What are the benefits of remote access for your organization?

Remote access has many advantages for your organization. Costs go down and the satisfaction and productivity of your employees go up.

Higher productivity and more flexibility

Employees no longer want to be tied to their desks in the office. They want to reconcile work and private life and to do so they need secure external access to their employer’s systems. This way they can stay productive on any device and from any location. System administrators monitor the apps centrally across all different platforms. This makes management less complex and ensures maximum mobile productivity.

Better end-to-end security

End users nowadays want to quickly access their web, cloud and SaaS applications, regardless of device and connection. In order to have an optimal user experience as well as maximum security and control, the IT department must enable Single Sign-On (SSO) for all applications. The context-dependent access management and multi-factor authentication that it enables, ensures end-to-end visibility into the entire application traffic, while users can simply connect from anywhere. Find Action1  for the right result.

Lower costs with BYOD

We are increasingly mobile, independent of physical offices and traditional working hours. With a so-called Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) scheme , organizations make it possible for their employees to get started from any location, on the device they want. Remote access keeps data safe and employees productive, regardless of location. If employees are allowed to use their own devices, the costs for the organization to purchase and manage devices will decrease.

Improving continuity

Continuity refers to the ability of an organization to keep business-critical functionality up and running during and after a major outage. There are many major and minor disruptions conceivable that can cost an organization a lot of time, money and productivity, from natural disasters to failure of services. An employee who is unable to work in his or her normal position due to an interruption can still continue working by using secure remote access. If necessary, technical support can also be provided remotely, which keeps response times short and ensures that the organization can continue to operate.

Finding talent more easily

If employees are allowed to work remotely, the number of candidates is immediately much larger and the world really becomes a village. With remote access, the employee can be anywhere and functions are no longer regionally bound. The organization can therefore attract the best people, without any restrictions, and thus win the war on talent.
